The 19th century French writer Stendhal described our county, the Lot-et-Garonne as “French Tuscany” and with good reason! The beautiful landscapes are eye-catching. Thanks to an abundance of water and a wide variety of agriculture, it is one of France’s most important producers of fruit and vegetables, best known for the harvest of plums, walnuts, strawberries and grapes for wine. The landscape is beautiful with its rolling hills. Visitors will be impressed by the history, numerous charming villages, castles, great cuisine, joie de vivre and the local markets with organic local produce. There are many historic bastide towns with flea markets to spoil visitors, refined restaurants and beautiful wine chateaus. Every season has its own charm. There are the famous truffle markets in the autumn.
